James Madison University Dietetic Students Honor the Troops
The Executive Board of the James Madison University Dietetic Association (JMUDA) decided to make the annual Christmas Social an "Honoring the Soldiers" event where members were asked to use money they would normally use for themselves to buy gifts for soldiers in a platoon currently fighting in the Middle East. The social had the largest turnout of students of the entire year! Not only did students bring an awesome number of gifts ranging from football and poker sets to toiletries and magazines/books to read, but almost every student wrote a personal letter to the soldiers to thank them and wish them a Merry Christmas. The social not only brought fellow students together but it helped them realize the importance of our freedoms and learning to respect those who have put their lives on the line for us to be able to go to school in peace. Ten medium-sized boxes were sent to the troops which definitely put a smile on the Post Office Man's face!
