"Influencing Food & Nutrition Policy in Virginia"
The Virginia Dietetic Association Political Action Committee (VDAPAC) was established in 2000 with the political purpose of raising money to support candidates for the General Assembly who are inclined to advance VDA’s advocacy efforts and public policy agenda. VDAPAC is the vehicle that helps VDA members and leaders build relationships with state candidates on the issues of food, nutrition and health, and in so doing, promote the well-being of Virginia citizens and enhance the professional recognition of Registered Dietitians.
VDA needs a FINANCIALLY SOUND political action committee fund to be successful in establishing a "seat at the table". Making a donation to the VDAPAC fund is the easiest way to get politically involved. While no campaign contribution guarantees a vote or support for an issue, it helps to foster relationships with members of the General Assembly and their staff. Any contribution, big or small, makes a difference.

For your convenience, credit card or PayPal account donations can be made by clicking the "Donate" button below. VDAPAC donations are accepted on an ongoing basis. There are no contribution limits in Virginia.
Every donation made to a political candidate will be authorized by the VDAPAC Board. This Board is the governing body of the VDAPAC that consists of five VDA members, including two at large who are appointed for a term of three years. According to Virginia campaign finance law, VDAPAC must maintain "separate, segregated funds" from VDA's direct operating budget. Only funds raised by VDAPAC can be used for political action purposes. VDAPAC gives to candidates of both political parties who support VDA’s public policy priorities according to these criteria:
*The candidate’s past or present support for VDA’s public policy agenda,
*Perceived need for the candidate’s support in the future,
*The candidate’s leadership role or committee assignment, and
*Nature of the event associated with the contribution, if applicable.
VDAPAC is regulated by the Virginia State Board of Elections. Political Action Committees registered in Virginia must remain in compliance with the provisions of the Campaign Finance Disclosure Act, Chapter 9 of Title 24.2 of the Code of Virginia. The VDAPAC files quarterly reports on committee receipts and disbursements as required by law. These reports are available for public inspection at the State Board of Elections located in Richmond, VA.
