Applying for scholarships offered by VAND or the Academy provides essential financial support for aspiring dietitians, helping to cultivate future leaders in the profession. For more information please contact Stephanie Stockslager at Stephanie.stockslager@vcuhealth.org.
VAND Graduate Scholarship ($1000)
VAND recognizes the value to the profession of the increase in knowledge base and experience of its members. Therefore, in support of this philosophy, VAND awards a graduate scholarship to help a member work toward an advanced degree. Eligible VAND members are invited to apply for the $1,000 VAND Graduate Scholarship. There is no limit to the number of qualified applicants, and the scholarship is open to both emerging and experienced dietitians.

Deadline for all submissions: January 30, 2026

To be eligible for the Graduate Scholarship, a candidate must:

Have been a member of the VAND for at least one (1) year.

Be a resident of Virginia at the time of application.

Have been accepted into a graduate study program at the time the award is presented and
plan to complete at least two (2) courses per academic year as a part‐time student or enroll the
minimum hours specified by the institution as a full‐time student. Or are actively enrolled in a
graduate program at the time of the award, meeting the above criteria. -
Submit all documents including the completed application form, a cover letter, and reference
letters to the VAND via the electronic application by January 30 of the coming year. The
reference letters may be uploaded with the packet or emailed directly from the person providing
the reference to the Awards & Scholarship Chair by January 30 of the coming year. One of the
letters of reference must come from the current employer if the candidate is employed.
